Elim Baptist Church: Augusta, GA // A Place of G.R.O.W.T.H. // (706) 738-1294
Reverend George C. Miller, III is the oldest of four children, born in Washington D.C. to Deacon George C. Miller, Jr. and Reverend Nawanna L. Miller. Having accepted Christ, at the early age of seven, Reverend Miller was spiritually reared in the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., under the pastorate of the renowned Reverend Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr. He grew up exposed on a very personal level to some of the greatest theological minds and preachers in the country. It was in this environment that the calling of his life was nurtured and cultivated. At a young age, he gained firsthand experience in the rigors of “urban ministry” as he observed his mother, also a pastor, ministering to those in need. Many Saturdays were spent handing out food, clothing, and words of encouragement to those who needed both help and hope. In a very real way, God was shaping Reverend Miller’s future from the time he was born.
On March 3, 2002, Reverend Miller publicly confessed his call to the gospel ministry. On the same day he earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Morehouse College of Atlanta, Georgia, he mounted the pulpit less than an hour later to preach his first sermon. He was officially licensed that same hour to the Gospel Ministry by the Messiah’s Temple Christian Church, the church founded by his mother. In May 2005, he was awarded the Master’s of Divinity Degree from the prestigious Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Additionally, Reverend Miller has obtained a Master of Business Administration Degree Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. He is currently pursuing the Doctor of Ministry degree at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.
In August of 2005, Reverend Miller was ordained by the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Reverend Casey R. Kimbrough is the Senior Pastor. Upon returning to Atlanta, Georgia, he assumed the role of Senior Pastor of Messiah’s Temple. His gifts made room for him and God used his ministerial experience and keen business sense in a tremendous way. God blessed during his three-year pastorate as many souls were saved and many lives were changed. In September 2007 he heard the voice of God and accepted a position as the Executive Pastor of the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia. There he served that body of believers faithfully for eight years. In August 2015 he was called by the Elim Baptist Church to serve as their Senior Pastor.
In light of all his accomplishments, Reverend Miller firmly believes that his first ministry is to his family. He is married to Minister Cheri Vivette Miller, a high school math teacher. They are the proud parents of four sons, George C. Miller, IV, Charles Preston Miller, Robert James Miller and Carter Ashton Miller. They live with the philosophy that whatever they do and wherever they go, they go as servants sent by God, “to serve their generation” (Acts 13:36).
