Elim Baptist Church exists to be a place where people can come and be refreshed by the worship of God and replenished by the Spirit of God so they can go forth and fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in their respective homes, communities and places of influence.
Elim Baptist Church has a Six (6) pillared vision, which is to be a place of G.R.O.W.T.H.
In 1886, over 600 black Augustans attended the Springfield Baptist Church. Since this church was located “downtown,” some of its members organized the Cumming Grove Baptist Church to serve the spiritual needs of black Baptists who lived in the area referred to as “Sand Hill.”
Elim emerged in the 19th century, when white families living in the exclusive Summerville area helped buy properties in nearby Sand Hills for their black employees. According to various documents and sources, Elim Baptist Church emerged from Cumming Grove and was organized at the home of Deacon Albert Taylor.
